Description

Jupiter and Saturn were separated by about 0.5 degrees on the night of December 17, 2020. Shot under average transparency and poor conditions. Callisto is the Jovian moon visible between Jupiter and Saturn. On the opposite side of Jupiter are Ganymede and Europa. Resolution is just about good enough to see the gaps between Saturn's rings and the planet's disk. My images from this night ended up all overexposed for Jupiter and Saturn since I set the exposure on Jupiter's moons.

Imaged with a Celestron 8" SCT at F10 and Nikon D750 with an exposure of 1/100 sec at ISO12800.
